swimming lessons and a few days at the beach

There is just something about the beach....... and it can start from a very early age.

Uncle Jason and Aunt Alison

At the end of May, Kailey had her second family trip on an airplane. Shelli, her mom, her dad, Kailey, and I left Houston on Thursday, May 28. We had a direct flight to Jacksonville, Florida. From there, we drove just over two hours to Hilton Head, South Carolina. This was Kailey's first time in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. She was a great traveler and had no problems in the plane or car.

The writeup about the wedding can be found here.

I am still working on my pictures from the weekend and will post them as soon as I am done culling and retouching. In the mean time, here is a sampling of the weekend:

After we made it back home, on Monday, June 1st, we spent the week with the normal routine of school and work. However, when the weekend came around, we spent a lot of time in the back yard pool. Kailey will even, on occassion, submerge her whole face in order to get a rock or toy from underwater. It is good and bad that Kailey is getting to be more and more brave around the water.....see below.

Then, there is Kailey being a normal, helpful and inquisitive two year old. Tonight, I turned on the upper oven to reheat some leftover pizza. She saw me turn the oven on, and toss in the pizza. Then, she went, on her own, to get oven mits, open the bottom oven (was turned off), slide out a rack, and then put it all back the way it was.

Finally, we are almost one week into "L.A.P.", or "Life After Pacifiers". For better or for worse, we intentionally waited until after the last plane ride to break Kailey of the habit. We figured that it could help her ears with the pressure changes and help everyone crowded into the condo sleep a little better. So far, it has not been a big deal, and she had adjusted just fine. I hope it continues this way.
