end of February

With February drawing to an end, it is really strange to think about all that has already happened during the first two months of the year. I quit my job and started a new one (more on that later). We traveled to Mississippi. Houston has continued to experience a very cold winter and a bit more snow. Kailey got new bedroom furniture. We spent a few days in Lake Charles where Shelli and Kailey got to experience some Mardi Gras. I had to travel to Orlando for a few days with the new company. I took a six week adult education Photography course. We went back to the House of Blues for a Gospel Brunch. We saw cirque de soleil in Houston at the Hobby Center. Then, finally, Kailey and I got a bird feeder set up in the back yard.

Here is a picture of our Princess's new bed.
So, in closing, the new job is going well. I am trying to pick up the ethanol trading desk. That means that I will be buying and selling ethanol to be used in the blending of gasoline. While it is similar to what I had been doing for CITGO, it is also a lot different. A lot of ethanol is moved by rail and trucks....a concept that was completely foreign to me when I first came to Seacor. Like anything new, I am learning my way around and it is gradually becoming more familiar.

hello

Well, with a big chunk of February gone and it being a few weeks since my last blog update, I figured it was time for some posting.

Shelli, Kailey, and I went to the Lost Pines Hyatt Resort outside of Austin a few weeks ago for two nights. I had to go for work (Seacor), and they came along. While there, Joey (friend, co-worker, father of my God-daughter) and I got up early on Saturday morning to try Snow's BBQ. Snow's is located in Lexington, Texas. It is only open on Saturday mornings from 8 am until they run out of meat. It was the #1 rated BBQ restaurant in the state of Texas by a Texas Monthly poll two years ago. We arrived at 730, am and waited patiently in the car. When the "open" sign went up at 8, we were some of the first ten people to make it inside. They even had some extra help as TLC (yes, The Learning Channel) was there with a film crew getting some footage for an upcoming episode. This is what our breakfast looked like...yes, it was that good.
We have been making our rounds in Katy with a Super Bowl Party at the Pittman's (WHO DAT), a birthday party and the normal stuff. Kailey is continuing to amaze of every day. She asked me the other night, at bedtime, to turn on her "Silly Fan" because she was hot. We'll start working on "ceiling fan" the next time we practice vocabulary.

Last Friday, February 5th, was my last day at CITGO. The new job is going good. (I have only been there three days, but I have enjoyed the people and the getting to see the opportunities that lie ahead. I miss being able to be productive, but that will come in time......well, it had better.

We hope that you all are doing well. I'll try to not wait so long before our next post.
